The $40,000 Plan, Our Travel Dream, and Why We’re Doing It Now
Hey
I’m about to share something huge… something that’s been brewing in my heart for a long time. Dily and I are leaving Australia at the end of July to live in a new country every month for a year. It’s exciting. It’s scary. And we’re doing it, even though we’re not 100% sure it’ll work.
Right now, we’ve got $40,000 saved up. It’s not a lot, but we think it’ll get us through 11 months of traveling. Dily’s parents are kindly letting us stay with them for three months, so that will stretch our budget further. But honestly? We’re not entirely sure how it’ll all pan out. The truth is, we won’t know until we try.
Here’s where we’re at:

We’re looking into SafetyWing, which seems perfect for long-term travelers like us. It covers health and medical needs while abroad, and it’s affordable for digital nomads. Check it out here: SafetyWing.

We’re comparing e-SIM cards from Holafly and Airalo. They’re both solid options to keep our phones working no matter where we are. You can learn more about them here: Holafly & Airalo.

We’re also considering Trusted Housesitters to save on lodging while we explore new cities. The concept is simple: watch pets or homes in exchange for free stays. Learn more here: Trusted Housesitters.
We’re still working through the details, and it’s all a little overwhelming—but that’s the fun part. We’re figuring it out as we go, and I want you to come along for the journey.

Now, here’s where I get real. Over the last few years, I’ve felt this nagging feeling, like I’m living the same day over and over. I go to work, come home, repeat. It’s comfortable, but it’s not alive. I’ve been stuck—feeling like there’s more out there, more for me to experience, and something in me that wants to wake up and go after my dreams, not just let them sit there quietly.
And I know, deep down, you probably feel the same way. Maybe not in the exact same way, but I know you’ve been thinking about breaking free. Whether it’s moving abroad, taking a new career path, or just doing something that scares you, we all have that itch. The one that says, you’re meant for more.
For me, that’s always been travel. I moved to London when I was 22—nervous, excited, unsure of what was to come. I gave it time. Slowly, I adapted. Slowly, I made my own family of friends. And that experience shaped me. Now, years later, I feel like it’s the right time again—right before we have kids, while we can still build the life we want.
Dily and I are doing this because it’s my dream, and it’s the right time. But we’re doing this now because the window will close when kids come into the picture. And if we don’t do it now, we’ll wonder forever, What if?
I’m not saying this is the right time for everyone. But if you’ve been feeling stuck, wondering how to make the leap, how to get off the fence and start living life on your own terms, I want you to follow along with us. Let’s create a community of people who are ready to take action, who are ready to push past the fear, and who want to build the life they dream of—together.
We can do this. You can do this. Let’s get off the fence./
